Dally Driver Locker Chose (Discovery)

So this Spring I'm Looking into getting Locker in my Discovery Dally Driver. I'm putting together a couple of options.
1. Tractech Truetrac Limited Slip Front and Tractech Detroit Locker Rear.
2. Tractech Truetrac Limited Slip Front and Rear.
3. ARB Air Lockers Front and Rear.

Looking for options on all there. For a long time I ran Detroit lockers F/R on my old Jeep for years in college as a Dally and never really had a problem with it. I'm not as aggressive with my wheeling today and don't think I need Full locker for my Exploring now but do like the idea of having the option of having them if needed. because of this and my Dally Driving need I am leaning to the Limited Slips front and rear or maybe the ARBs. What the general opinion here guys LS of Air Lockers.

thanks for any input.

If ARB is on your radar, then consider Ashcroft lockers. Brexit should offer you a very significant price advantage over ARB.

Thanks Meatblanket! I just looked them up at Lucky 8 I think ill relapse the ARBs on the list with them!

I don't think it is a question that a fully lockable dif will be superior to the limited slip-and with an air (or e) locker the selectability retains great manners of course. The big factor is cost; if you are willing to sink the cost of ARB or Ashcroft-buy once, cry once and overbuild!

That said I just have a TT rear (and a 4 pin front) and have never found my truck truly lacking for the type of wheeling Coyote does. I have, and still am, considered upgrading to full lockers but the cost/benefit just isn't there for me and thus the money gets put elsewhere. Had I not bought the truck with the TT & 4 pin (at 4.11 gearing) sitting in buckets waiting to go on I'd probably be air lockered now.

price vs capability is something to think about for sure Ray. It's a hard call as it looks like about a 500ish difference between truetracks front and rear vs the Ashcrofts. If I didn't want to stay with my current gearing I would tell you to go ahead and get lockers and I would just buy your truetracks off you! Oh things to think about and how to justify them to the wife :smiley_drive: !

On a D1, I say run the air lockers. I had a True Trac in my rear for a while and while it worked well enough. You have to actually have some wheel spin and modulate the brakes to get it to lock up. Air lockers are hit the switch and go..

On a D2 with traction control Automatic Torque Biasing diffs like the True Trac, Ashcroft and Quaife really tend to shine since the ABS locking up the wheel will make the ATB diff lock up and do it's thing seamlessly with no effort on your part. Of the 3 ATB's available for rover thirds i'd say go with the Ashcroft variety. Similar design as the Quaife, with 6 helical gears per side versus 3 helical gears per side for the truetrac, but loads cheaper.

For what it's worth, I put Truetracs in front and rear when I regeared to 4.11s.

Having it in the front helped with steering wander caused by the lift and tired bushings.

And I'll take some left foot braking every once in a while over the extra cost and set up of air lockers.

I had the TT/Detroit combo on my old DII and it was great. Only downside is off camber in the slippery stuff. Besides occasional clicking from the locker backing out of a parking spot it maintained good road manners
