Destination MT vs KM2 in tropical mud?

Anyone have any real life experience with these two tires? I'm hearing/reading the BFGs pack quick with fine silt and organic mud. I have not read much on Destination MT in mud.

Thnx

Tropical mud like in Panama

Perhaps, members in central America or well traveled (tropic) individuals can chime in on this one, I seem to remember chains are a must in most tropical mud situations on hilly terrain.

NLX uses KM2 and they got us through some unbelievable ruts in Guatemala. I've been using BFG MT's exclusively for years but this last experience affirmed my decision.

i have the destinations in my 90 series land cruiser in Venezuela... they work pretty well... last long (about 50-60000 km if you rotate them) and they perform quite good in mud...

i believe that between all this regular mud tires what makes the difference is the quality and longevity of the tire... the performance on mud is mainly driving skills...

if we start comparing MT's with super swampers or military tires, there we can tell diferences....

Thanks guys, I'm on the fence between the two. The truck will be in Central America for a year or two, so mud (both in rainy seasons and in river bottoms) is my primary concern. How do the FS MTs air down? They look like pretty stout sidewalls, like a ply tire.

Use a more road friendly tire like the BFG A/T and carry a set of chains

Thanks but not a fan of BFG ATs, I ran'm years ago on my FJ40 and K5, but will never go back. I'll buy another set of Duratracs before I go back to them. Yes, chains are on my shopping list.

Not really here
I have had them both. The FS on my Xterra and the BFG KM2s as well as the AT. I can tell you that the KM2 is a better tire in my opinion to the FS as far as mud and rocks go and is a bit quieter as well. The sidewalls are better too. In the mud, the FS MT and BFG KM2 do about the same with a very slight edge going to the KM2, but when you put them on the rocks the KM2 makes the FS look plain silly. My BFG ATs did better than a pure street tire, but that's just about it. They are good for trails and highway use. The KM2 has my vote, but if the price were right I would buy the FS MT again.
