That depends. Do those electrical, extension, jumper cables come with it?

Wonder how Space Force came into the possession of such a tricked out van?

Battery light could be bad alternator.

Be interested in seeing what the CEL is for.

Most importantly, how is the FRAME?

Could be a great platform, no doubt. Are you handy with a wrench if the CEL turns out to be something?

DOGE is on the case.

Ha ha. Nice.

I was wondering more like maybe they used it to overland to remote locations where missiles or capsules would have had a hard landing like the old Russian cosmonauts. Or getting to remote monitoring stations. Or being a mobile remote monitoring station.

It's more likely that it belonged to some airman and he abandoned it on base after it broke down and he didnt have the $ to get the CEL problem fixed.

Some updates!

The van has always been owned by the Space Force, not an individual. They used it to go into the mountains for training exercises, often towing a trailer with snowmobiles.

The conversion was done by Boulder Offroad Vans and involved putting a Ford front end on the vehicle. The CEL and ABS lights have been on since then and their mechanics have not been able to figure out why--they assume a fuse and say that it is the lights only. The vehicle drives fine, does not leak, and they said they would be okay taking it cross country immediately.

It has always lived in Colorado and there is very little rust.

They replaced it with a new, factory GMC 4x4 because the ride is bumpy on this one, especially for people in the rear. They actually took 3" off the lift to try to fix this. When I asked how fast they drive in it normally he said "75 or whatever the speed limit is".

The dent is from the spare tire swing arm not being pinned one time--no accidents. I should have asked more questions about the battery/alternator situation.

Is this better or worse? I dunno. Thoughts? Diagnoses? Run away?

If true that makes it a better deal in my eyes. Dont know vehicle inspection situation in your state and if the CEL prevents a sticker or not.

So Space Force has always owned this van, it’s a 2007, was Space Force around in ‘07?

Space force as we now have it is very recent. 2018, 2020 for sure. But it is a result of work since the 1980's, Reagan's SDI and 10 years later a congressman from NH. Then the Rumsfeld commission. I am guessing it may have been owned by US Space Command first, which was out of Peterson, but more likely the parallel Air Force Spce Command of which Buckley was a part.
