Diesel Stove options

I was looking at my wasted space and noticed there is a lot of room in the tailgate of the Badlander. I think it would be sweet to find a low profile diesel stove solution that i could fab into the tailgate so when I drop it down, its flush sitting right side up and ready to cook. Hope that makes sense. Prolly way too late for me to be up.

Has anyone used one of these stoves?

How is the heat output? Do the simmer OK? No problems running on diesel?

Looks like a modern variant to the old Optimus or Primus stoves from Sweden.

They are a little tricky at first until you get used to them. The fuel has to be preheated so it is a vapor before it will burn correctly. If you try to burn liquid diesel, you would have a smokey mess. Diesel vapor on the other hand burns clean and hot. These stoves were designed to burn kerosene but if you are in the middle of nowhere, you burn what you got. The most common fuel is heating oil, which is really diesel, and is similar to kerosene. I've heard to look for "mineral spirits", used for cleaning paint brushes is suppose to burn really clean but haven't tried it yet.

This little Petromax is good news, the old Primus and Optimus burners are getting scarce and expensive. Nice to have an alternative, I'll see about getting one. Thanks
