Disco Kids: I'm looking for a clean D1 but all I can find is D2's.

Should I hold out or bite on the D2's? This is a semi-daily used to ferry myself, signs, etc. that needs to be as a capable as an overlander.

Thoughts?

I think a well sorted D2 will fit your needs, I was looking for a D1 at first but ended happily with a d2

Series 1 all the way. Simplicity, no super locks, hdc, 220 degree proprietary tstat.

Just a solid design with little to go wrong outside of the cooling system.

I run a 180 degree thermostat from LR designed for the D2, the only other option is the 190...

either way, IMO they took a simple design and added too many bells and whistles overcomplicating it.

I'd shoot for a pre AEL series 1. I prefer the 94/95. I think build quality was slightly higher, but the 96 and 97 are solid too.
