Distance needed between Yakima rails

I would like to use either model 1600 or 1800 tent on http://www.activitytrailer.com/ . I talked to one person who thinks i might be able to do without a cargo rack . But , i need to know what the safest distance between the rails would be for either the 1600 or 1800 .

Activity trailer says , " The spread between the bars (for/aft) is adjustable between 42" and 36". Depending on what gear you want to mount his should be fine, but in all honesty, if you have a drill, they can be put anywhere you want on the for/aft dimension. We have found the current spacing to work fine, but if really needed just a couple extra holes will allow you to put the crossbars wherever you need. "

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but the standard spread between Yak racks has been generally 36". Works with a 21' foot kayak we have, but you've got to tie off bow and stern. Not sure if I'm helping or not.
