info?

high top camper. 1970's-ish.

what motor would it have? 318? 360?

its the 8200lb chassis. Its got me salivating about ripping everything out and pimping it for my family of 5.

Could be either. My father had a '74 B300 in the mid to late '70s and never liked it as much as his '70 Ford, it only had a 318 in it so it was underpowered and still got terrible fuel milage. I don't remember how bad the milage was but my '79 Ford E350 Supervan with a hightop and a 460 gets 13, I don't think it was anywhere close to that.
It may still have the 16.5 wheels on it that will need replacement because no one makes 16.5 tires anymore.

Brian, your funny my friend...but you sound like me, too...I have been looking at early-mid 90's ford vans lately and dreaming about a U-Joint conversion set-up for one...especially since lately we have been doing alot of day trips and it gets me thinking how nice it would be if someone gets tired, we could go back to the van and rest for a bit , out of the sun, and then continue our day ...plus the kids seem to be bringing more friends and 2 vehicles just isn't economical.
Shoot, I even found a 91 ford passenger for 1500 bucks on craigslist that is only a hour or so away.....

This site certainly can be hazardous to ones wallet...:sombrero:

Hey, I'm not the one parking these cool rigs on the way to my house!! :coffeedrink:

Not to worry. Mrs. Bigdaddy nix'ed the idea. I showed it to her, and she was like...."Um, no."

somehow my van steered itself over to the dealer selling this rig. wow. pretty cool. motor hummed like a sewing machine. very smooth. It's got a 360, and I'd assume a 727 torqueflight? maybe the Th400? not sure what these were spec'd out with.

Inside wasn't trashed at all, just a bit old. Found a stack of surf magazines and a bunch of baja related stickers, belying the former owner's activities.

some pics...

I could definitely see pulling everything out and refurbing the interior. I'd need to figure out births for two adults and 3 small kids. I looked at a 80's vintage ford van, too and it didn't have near the charactor that this one did.

What would I be looking at as far as mpg's? 8-10 or so?

When I was in tech school in the late 70's, I was 'volunteered' to drive the school's 15 passenger Dodge vans when we took field trips to various industries.... main thing I recall was that the 360's in them were hugely, _hugely_ cold-natured. Even in the summer, even after a few minutes of warm-up, it took hard power-braking to get them to back up the slight grade out of their usual parking spaces without stalling. I always had to leave my previous-hour class 10 minutes early on field trip days to have time to get the van going. Funny what you remember....
