I really should update that thread. We had a great time bringing it home form Indiana but didn't do as much expedition travel as we hoped this year. We ended up going to North Central Washington to help my father in-law fix up a lot he has at Lake Wenatchee. We ended up staying all summer, and then bought a house in Chelan. Actually, first I bought an airplane in Chelan, and a hangar, so we we pretty much had to move there.
One problem with the trailer is the frontal area. My 2008 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited with 4:10 gears tows it just fine under 60 MPH and with no head wind. Add 10 MPH and some wind, I'm running full throttle in 4th gear. I towed the trailer a couple of time with our 4.6 liter Chevy 2500 cargo van, does great. The taller profile of the van breaks the wind on the trailer a bit and the 4.8 has much more pulling power than the little 3.8 in the Jeep. I hate the van, it was a leftover from our motorcycle dealership (closed in June) and has been for sale for a while now. I am thinking of getting a Dodge 2500 with a Cummins. I want the shortest one I can find, and I will probably make it a flatbed with a canvas top and tools boxes around the bottom. I wish the Iveco daily 4x4's were sold here, would much rather have that than a pickup truck, who knows, maybe I will find a Fuso FG or something.
Didn't mean to highjack your thread. Livin' Lite is a top notch business and will build you anything you want. If possible, go there and plan it in person with them. Had I seen some of the stuff they were building, I would have done a few things differently. It was what I asked for, but when I got there to pick it up, I toured the factory and was like "hey, I would have done that, and that, and that too"
I would have also went for a lower profile. I am only 5'9" and my wife is 5'2", we didn't need a 6'7" ceiling. I would have also went with the 7' wide model instead of 6'. The 7' has better bathroom and water/shower options and has the same track/wheelbase. I would need mirror extensions in urban setting with the Jeep, but it would have been worth it.
