Dragon's FJ Cruiser Build

IMHO, the FJ and late model Tacomas are enough alike that we (Tacoma owners) can learn from you ideas and experiences. Isn't that what this forum is for? I'm kinda new around here, so I don't know if my opinion matters much, but you're welcome any day in my book. Great looking ride and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Bryan. This forum is exactly for that; those who share a passion for getting away in their vehicle, for modifications, for getting to know one another, and for sharing stories and adventures together. :)

Nice way to sum it all up.
(I have always thought the FJC's should be in this section with the Tacoma's. And most FJC guys tend to go away when they are moved to the Cruiser section.)

...and listen to people tell me how it isn't a Landcruiser? No thanks. :hehe:
This forum is: (and note the commas)
Toyota: Tacoma, Truck, 4Runner

This would fall under "Truck" more than anything else :)

At Toyota Corporate, the FJC falls under the 90 class Land Cruiser. So I disagree and call it a Land Cruiser. I know a lot of insecure LC owners out there would disagree.

Land Cruiser........truck......who cares, its awesome in every way. I will add to my collection soon. With the G and Gurkha, another competent off roader in my arsenal.

Reading the older threads I really liked your buildup! My wife's 'car' is an FJC but she won't let me touch it...yet :)

I wanted to comment on your vehicle's naming statement below. Of course now we all know a motor vehicle will drive higher than 12,388 ft. We commonly drive to over 14k ft as to Mt Evans and Pike's Peak.

I drove one of the first injected FJ-40s to mountain passes over 15k ft in Ecuador routinely when driving from Quito to the 'office' in Ecuador's Oriente, Lago Agrio. One trip was to 18k ft on the side of one of those famous volcanoes down there, some well over 22k ft. I think that was Chimborazo, but it was 30 years ago so I'm a little fuzzy as to which excursion it was!

Sure did enjoy all your photos!!

For my rig, I went retro and named it after the man who put the Landcruisers on the map, literally.

"In July of 1951, Toyota Test driver Ichiro Taira drove a BJ prototype to the sixth of the 10 hikers checkpoints on Japan's 12,388 foot Mount Fuji. That was higher than anyone thought likely-or even possible -in a four wheel motor vehicle. Then inspired by a historic horseback riding feat accomplished centuries earlier, Taira drove to Okazaki City and up steep temple stairs. Taira's drive drew attention to the FJ*"

Thanks Tennmogger,

I think it was just the type of thing that "hadn't" been done over there. I've been higher myself. Fuji San is not the highest of mountains, and I'm sure nobody even thought to take a rig up it until Ichiro did 58 years ago. I wonder what the rubber compound was on his tires :D

Thanks again for the kind words :)
