Hola!
My wife and I are taking our second plunge from Portland, Or down to Chile by way of cheap conversion van. Baja by Friday! Great forum here, thanks to everyone for all the great info and stories you share. If you'd care to come along, check out our site...http://sintopes.blogspot.com!

Hey, If you guys haven't already, download the ioverlander app. It's been super useful esp. in Baja, and Mainland Mexico.

Awesome! Weather is nice down here in Chile right now! Still some snow left though in places....should have brought my skis along.

Yeah, it hurts missing the northwest ski season but we've got a 7 month drive to get there. Plus its not torture getting out of the portland rain for a season..

I will be looking for the blue van down in the Baja. I'm currently leaving La Paz for Los Barriles, then a week of time share in Cabo and then another two weeks to get back home. I'm in a gold (beige?) Ford Ranger with a black Unicover - homemade sleeping platform in the back with ample storage underneath - sound familiar? Make a stop in La Ventena or Playa Norte of Los Barriles to check out the kite boarders and then head to Cabo Pulmo and Los Frailes to get some good snorkeling if you can.
