Sony uses the RX100's sensor as the heart of the QX smartphone accessory cameras, described in this thread:

Now the QX devices have competition in the form of the ONE by DxO.

DxO One.jpg

The One uses Sony's 1 inch, 20 megapixel sensor, the same as in the RX100. The gadget has a fixed focal length, f/1.8 lens, and can capture RAW or compressed JPEG format. The One plugs into an iPhone using a swiveling Lightning connector. The One includes its own microSD card storage. JPEG exposures can also be saved in the iPhone camera roll.

From DxO's press release: "A free iOS app enables control of the individual settings on the DxO ONE camera, including aperture (from f/1.8 to f/11), shutter speed (from 15s to 1/8000s), and ISO (from 100 to 51200)...various capture modes, including multiple Scene modes, Speed, Aperture Priority, or full Manual mode..The DxO ONE also records outstanding videos at 1080p/30fps or 720p/120fps."

MSRP for the 3.8 oz (108 g) and 2.65” (6.9 cm) tall device is $599, delivery to begin in September.

Pretty slick. I won't be buying one, but f1.8 and 1/8000th is nice. Love their software for getting the most out of RAW images.

To introduce the One, DxO is offering two incentives.

First, you can try the product for up to 30 days, and return for a full refund, including shipping costs, if you're not satisfied.

Second, "For a limited time," DxO will include two desktop software packages when you purchase the One. First is DxO Optics Pro, a highly regarded RAW editing program (a $130 value), and DxO Filmpack, a plug-in for Aperture, Lightroom or Photoshop that converts color images to B&W. Filmpack mimics the look of many different B&W film types. (A $50 value.)

The One is designed to work with the Apple Lightning connector. So it's compatible with iPhone 5, 6 and 6 Plus. Other devices with the Lightning connector include all iPads from 4th generation onwards, and all iPad Minis. The first generation iPad Mini lacks a "retina" display, so best to avoid that model, I think.

Here's a web site with hands-n experience with the One

I've seen several articles reporting that the One can be used in standalone mode, no iPhone needed. The One has its own battery and flash storage card. You won't have the luxury of a viewfinder...but the One just became the stealthiest camera around. Want to capture photos in the Prado? No problem!

Cute in a proof-of-concept way, but I would probably break off the lightning connector before the 30 day trial was up. It makes me cringe looking at it. Especially with say an iPhone+ in one hand and the camera in the other and then I trip on a rock and flush $600 down the toilet. And a $600 camera without a viewfinder in standalone mode is a massive fail. Besides, the camera would only last until Apple decides to do something else besides a lightning connector; how long's that gonna be? If Apple goes to the new USB in their next phone you can probably buy these on eBay for $50.

I wish they'd work with existing wifi camera manufacturers to license their app though; it looks nice. But the camera? fergeddaboutit. If I had $600 lying about I'd get a G7X for about the same price, with many more features.
