E-250 roof vent?

I have a roof vent w/ fan that i'm considering installing in the rear of the van. I like the idea of it being cracked open, little fan running (once i've got the solar system hooked up, that is) when we're parked and out and about exploring by foot or bike, or having it popped when we're sleeping in the back in the summertime. If i end up putting on a roof rack, i'll probably utilize the construction style ladder racks, so i think there should be enough clearance for the vent bubble to open and not hit the future roof rack. just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this set up. thanks!

My camper van has one of the standard "14 inch" RV vents. I put a computer fan in it (big one, 3-speed) and it made a BIG difference.

However, I have also busted two of the plastic lids on tree branches (and the vent was closed, not open, both times). Camco makes replacement lids, and they aren't rocket science to replace, but still...

A roof rack to protect it would be nice.
