E350 ABS questions

Hey guys,
I have a 1997 E350. I am having some braking issues and in researching it I have found a possible problem with the master cylinder or the RABS valve.

Was it possible to get a van in 97 without any ABS? Front or rear?

I found that the RABS valve should be located on the drivers frame rail near the front. I don't see it there. I crawled under the van to look. Is it possibly visible from under the hood? I will be able to look at the van tonight and will have a better look around in the daylight.

The van has a 4x4 conversion and I know there is not front wheel ABS. So I wonder if this possibly never had any ABS or maybe the rear was taken out at some point along the way.

Seems odd to not have any ABS in a vehicle in 1997. But I don't know.
Any insight is appreciated!

Some commercial vehicles didn't have to meet certain safety requirements for a little while longer.

When you turn the key to "run" is there an ABS light on the dash?

If there is, then you have, or had ABS - if not...

Is there a VSS on the top of the rear differential?
Are there wires going to each front wheel, usually tied to the brake hoses?

What "issues" are you having?

Got it figured out. Thanks for the replys.

The RABS valve is directly under the master and I have one there.

My rear brakes were out of adjustment and totally gone on one side. It had a squishy, creeping pedal with lots of travel. New rear brakes, hardware, cylinders, adjustment and bleed and its feeling pretty good.
