After 97,000 miles I decided the brakes needed a little R&R. I've only changed the pads once (37,000) when I switched to a set of Autozone ceramics, didn't even get the rotors turned...they worked very well but were starting to show their age in the mountains.
Since I thought "upgrade" I went with EBCs slotted rotors and a set of their series 6000 Greenstuff pads. The R&R took most of a day due to the stubborness of bolts and rotors that had never been removed. A can of PBBlaster later and some good soak time and everything is back together...
The EBC brakes seem to work well, takes less effort to stop now. I haven't really laid into them (or needed to) yet, I'd like to get a few miles under them first.
Really glad I decided to replace everything, all the pads had cracks in them, they were living on borrowed time for sure. I think the new set will really help when we're trying to stop a fully loaded Tundra flying down a mountain road....
