Looks like they’re starting off with a new slide in camper:

“Oregon-based EarthCruiser, internationally renowned manufacturer of 4×4 expedition vehicles, just announced expansion into the electric vehicle (EV) market with a brand-new, lightweight slide-in truck camper, according to a press release.

“We have been keenly following the evolution of EV vehicles and have been waiting until the time is right and the time is now. We are a company that loves to discover, innovate, and test, over and over until we get it right. Our deep expertise in building world-renowned expedition vehicles makes it easier for us to roll into electric platforms compared to competitors,” said Lance Gillies, founder of EarthCruiser.

For customers who are not quite ready for an EV truck, the new camper will work flawlessly with internal combustion engine vehicles. When customers are ready to transition to EV, after a few simple software updates, the camper will be ready for life on the back of an electric vehicle.

EarthCruiser has the skill and means to make an EV camper a reality. The company has a proven track record of over fifteen years of building light, aerodynamic overlanding products designed to be efficient and capable and work off-grid for extended use. With the current payload and range limitations of electric trucks, designing an EV camper requires deep knowledge of complex energy systems, weight distribution and aerodynamics. EarthCruiser is taking this unparalleled expertise and applying it to develop new approaches and designs to pave the way for electric vehicles in the overlanding sphere.

“There are many similarities with our current EarthCruiser habitat and one that would be required to function with an electric platform. It’s critical to maximize efficiency in order to allow vehicles to go further. Managing limited storable on-board energy capacity, operating within acceptable range envelope and staying safe and comfortable is the essence of an overlanding vehicle and we have been doing that for years. EarthCruiser is extremely good at energy efficiency and the amount of energy required to move an EC down a road is significantly less than our competitors,” Gillies said.

It’s no surprise that the renderings, which have been included here, bear a striking resemblance to the ill-fated GZL camper that EarthCruiser debuted several years ago. Unlike EarthCruiser’s earlier incarnation, however, the new EV slide-in features a pop-top that is level rather than a wedge pop-top.

The company is now taking advance orders of the new camper. Additional details about the EarthCruiser EV Camper will be announced at future dates in 2023.”

Partial story…most of the rest is similar to the above article.

Unplugging in the outback
“Our business is based on the efficient use of energy,” said Gillies. “You can go to even more interesting places with our vehicles and we want our EarthCruiser to go to places that are not using a lot of resources.
“Our job is to make our electric vehicle as efficient as it can be so you can go where you want to go.”
Engineers have had to be mindful of aerodynamics and energy storage systems that affect the range of an electric-run truck for these so-called overland vehicles because they don’t depend on a traditional RV park area. Their newest product will compensate for the weight of a slide-in camper without losing range, said Balk.
