ERGObaby baby carrier recommended?

Did a search and did not see any post on the ERGObaby? Anyone have one and recommend it? I was looking at the Performance model and the Sport model.

Our son is too big for our BabyBjorn (and too hard on my back). While the Kelty's and Deuter's look great for extended hikes, we are really just looking for a carrier to go to the beach, park, farmers market, and short hikes.

We live in the city so we would use it daily and the Kelty/Deuter's seem just to big for this use.

Thanks!

We have The Original Ergobaby and love it, the new versions is supposed to have longer belly straps. As mine are well (cough) maxed out. I bought it in khaki because it looked like a MANS baby carrier. Although I think you can get it in pink and paisley if your into that. Its also equally comfortable on the front as well as back. The baby rain head protector this is useless as its way to snug on the babes head. Hope that helps.

Are these front or rear carriers? I tried using the Bjorn one time and ... yeah, that sucks. Has to be on the back.

I believe the Ergo carriers can be used in front or in back, I saw a women with it on the front the other day camping and I know you can use them on your back! We have a Bjorn currently and it has worked well thus far.... Although he is getting a little big for it, so I think I will be getting a Ergo also!

We have the regular one and I love it. My wife really likes wraps and has about 5 of them. She also likes the ergo and it's always in the car. Our daughter is 20 months now and about 21 pounds. She's a small one and is still a manageable weight front or back. The wraps didn't work for me and some were really hot. In the beginning I enjoyed holding my baby in my arms so I didn't use anything. One day I tried the ergo and liked it. The baby bjorn doesn't fit well, doesn't hold the baby well and I'm not sure why people have them. If your child is really small you'll need an insert for the ergo but we didn't know about it so we never bought one and she fit fine.

Maggie is old and strong enough to walk on her own but she's got little legs so she's slow and those little legs get tired so the ergo is good to have. Sometime we stick her in a little stroller or our jogging stroller for longer journeys. If it's all on foot we also have a Kelty external frame thingy and she like it although it is big and doesn't pack down very small.
