E.V.A is a Dutch company that has developed a motorcycle that runs on diesel fuel. Read about it here http://www.dieselmotorcycles.eu/
The engine EVA uses is a 750cc 3 cylinder diesel that was developed by Mercedes for use in one of the Smart Car models. The engine produces about 45 hp and 75 ft-lbs of torque. The Mercedes CVT transmission is used, too.
Fuel consumption is 1 liter per 40 km, that's about 95 miles per US gallon, at 55 mph.
EVA is making a street version and an "all-road" model. Here's what the street bike chassis looks like:
The EVA diesel moto weighs 495 lbs dry. which is a lot to wrestle around. In comparison, the BMW R1200 GS weighs 492 lbs dry. The KTM 640 Adventure weighs 350 lbs. I know which one I'd want to pick up after dumping on a big rock during a water crossing!
