With the box and tire on it looks like you have the view to your taillights obstructed somewhat, is it just the pictures or is that something to address? I'd like a box and tire setup like this on my Ram and this was a big question.

I presume those steps insert in the receiver? and that they store in the top of the box? Otherwise they seem to kill your departure angle. Nevermind, I see in the 'extended' shot that they do not utilize the receiver and appear to be permanently mounted. Seems like a good way to snag them / tear them off, going thru a ditch.


CFM most codes say some version of 'plainly visible at xxx feet'. And little or nothing about partially obstructed. As long as someone behind you can tell your brake lights are activated it doesn't much matter.

Concur with the comments about the accordion steps. With the $$, effort and clean install of the bumper, spare and box, there wasn’t another solution I guess you liked?

BTW, where in TX are you? (I am outside Fort Worth area).

Tail lights are totally visible and steps appear to be lower than they are. In reality, they're only about 2-3" below receiver. Southeast Texas, Gary.
