Expedition Vehicle pricing vs RV pricing

I'm looking to purchase my first expedition vehicle. I've had campers and RVs in the past. My question is concerning pricing. When I went looking for a new RV from a major manufacturer my target was 20-30% off MSRP, which seemed to be fairly easy to obtain. It almost seemed like it was expected due to the initial purchase depreciation of 20-30% when you drive it off the lot. It also seemed to make it easier for buyers to obtain loan approval for full purchase price if the bank saw you were eliminating the initial depreciation as part of the deal. Should I expect to negotiate toward the same discount off MSRP when I go to purchase an expedition vehicle? I'm looking at something based on a domestic 5500 platform like an EarthRoamer or maybe something from a smaller manufacturer like Wanderbox. Thank you.

And it looks like this might not be the correct forum for this post. Moderators feel free to move it to the Integrated Overland Campers forum. Thank you.

No, totally different ballgame really. That % off is due to the dealership model, almost all ExPo rigs are direct to consumer. Can't speak for Wanderbox but ER advertises their for sale price, best way to save some $ is try to find one of their "Pre-Roamed" ones on their site at a massive discount.

Also, I wouldn't put the WB and ER in the same category, not just the $500,000 price difference, but the ER is going to be in a whole nother league quality wise.

For me, it isn't just the initial cost that makes me ponder an Expedition vehicle.
After you have it, you need to maintain it. And something built on a 5500 chassis is going to cost
a lot more to maintain than an RV.

Cheaply built, mass produced RV sitting on the dealer’s lot for months and months, costing the dealer flooring charges, insurance costs, etc. creating lots of incentive to first fluff up prices (like auto dealers) and then greatly discount aging rigs late in the season to move inventory.

Pre-sold, thoughtfully custom built Expedition Vehicle, built only after you’ve decided all of the options you wanted and then put down a substantial deposit, with demand usually out pacing supply due to small shop boutique builders.

Not sure what RVs you were looking at. If they were Elkhart mass produced ones they total make up the listed msrp. It's a joke and IMHO you can't compare to a vehicle / truck that usually has legitimate published msrp's.

Tell me what you think of the following overlander by Rover Off-Road.
