Exploring Tasmanian tracks

We arrived in Hobart on the morning of the 26/2/08 after crossing the Bass Starit on the "Spirit of Tasmania II". We had a very smooth trip from Melbourne to Devonport and drove the 300 km to our first destination, Hobart.
Soon after we started organising off-road expeditions to the several 4WD tracks in Tasmania and, on Sunday the second of March, we headed southeast to the Pelverata track. We went with my son, Carlos (stooge), in his very capable Range Rover; Tim, a member of AURLO with his 2 door Range Rover; and Edi with his Toyota Hilux 2.8 D.
Pelverata track is very demanding, with several long spots on low first gear only and central diff lock on. Pools and big rocks need concentration by the drivers and many narrow sections made this track unsuitable for big rigs.
We had a very enjoyable day a trip after winter is on the cards, when the water is running over the tracks.
Edi in his Hilux was very kin in testing his rig and in one spot and had to be winched out by Tim with his rangie.
The next 2 weekends are all ready booked with some very interesting tracks and i am looking forward to more photography with my Nikon D200.
In my site http://www.pbase.com/arthurplottier/tasmanian_trip_2008pelverata there are several photos of this trip.

today was Bruny Island in Tasmania

Bruny Island is about 80 km south/east of Hobart. A beautiful Island with fantastic camping spots and beaches. This was my first trip with the Range Rover HiLine FI and the first time that I drive it with the Truetrac diff at the back and the axles from Keith of Rovertrack fitted by Justin Cooper. She drives beautiful and after some other small repairs and preventative maintenance by Justin I rate the Rangie above my old Disco.
Here are some photos of the trip that we done with Justin in his awesome Range Rover Vogue 1993 with Izusu 3.9 engine, stooge in his Disco Tdi300 and Mark in his Disco V8.
Cheers

What a beautiful place with those amazing beaches.

I hope I'm fortunate enough to visit Tasmania someday. Those Rovers all look right in their element.

Thanks for giving us a peak -

The end of a day

Today I was looking forward for a good sunset from Mount Wellington but the sky covered with a thick cloud in the wrong time, however I have these shots for you to appreciate how beautiful place is Hobart and the waterways,
The shots are taken from Mount Wellington, 1200 + meters above sea level.
I hope that you enjoy this images.
Cheers

The Hartz Mountains NP

We have a beautiful day in the Hartz Mountains NP, jus a short 80 km drive from Hobart. We went with Stooge (my son and member of this forum) in his Disco Tdi300, "DiscoPete" a local member of AURLO with his beautifull example of Range Rover 2 door and my wife and I in our Rangie Hiline.
Tasmania is a fantastic place to explore with a very frindly 4wd community and must be in the list for members of the expedition Portal
Here are some shots from the trip

Cheers
