Exterior Junction box?

I'm going to install a 12v outlet on my tent platform. I picked up a marine grade outlet but want to find some kind of sealed box to hide all the wires and make the install clean & weather proof. In my head I'm thinking of a black plastic box 2" x 2" x 4".

I've been searching for this or a good alternative and have come up empty!
Any good ideas?

Potted enclosures can be found at radio shack. They might not be sold as weather proof but some silicon can solve that.

Maybe you can find a small pelican case to suite.

Any of these three that are available at most hardware stores or even Amazon for less then $10:

I use this one above on my current camper and it works great with a 110 volt receptacle. I've used it to run a fan to help with bugs when on the Gulf coast and some exterior lighting at times when the barbecue is cranked up.

You could put a GFIC in this one, which is a really good idea, just in case you leave something running in the rain...

YES! The Portal comes through again...
That Allied site is incredible. I'm going to check Radio Shack on the Potted enclosures first. Otherwise I'll order from Allied.

I knew someone here would know :wings:

Success!

Okay I admit that until a couple of hours ago I didn't know what a "potted enclosure" was and still don't really know what they are for but geez... Radio Shack... those guys are dumber than a bag of hammers! Throughout this whole electronics project I've gone there several times to find relays & switches etc. If you aren't asking about a cellphone or iPod they never have a clue.

I ended up finding it in the back corner on my own. 4x2x2 black plastic box with a screw-on lid... PERFECT! It won't be waterproof without a little tweak, but it doesn't really have to be since the outlet itself is marine grade.

Thanks again.

Glad you found what you were looking for. I agree about the knowledgeable guys at RS, I don't really turn to them for questions. If I go there, I try to know exactly what I'm looking for prior to walking in the door. :shakin:
