f0.95 aperture?

f-stop is the ratio of aperture (technically the "entrance pupil, the effective aperture viewed from the front) to focal length. No mathematical or physical reason at all why it can't be less than 1.0. It's just hard to do!

There have been sub-1.0 f-stop lenses for decades -- even back to rangefinder days -- if my recollections are right.

Definitely cool gear.

THe noktor lens is gimmicky.. and by most accounts, it is lacking at many levels... The lens went for $700-900 back in the days.. don't know why it's now $8000. That's like Tata all the sudden building a Ferrari fighter.. proceed with caution.

For their asking price, I'd put my money on a Leica Noctilux or Voigtlander before I even touch anything with the Noktor name on it.

Oh and for these large aperture lenses.. the designated rating can only be achieve in the middle of the lens.. as you go towards the peripheral, the f/stop rating drops... creating a vignetting effect.

The price is in Hong Kong dollars, so $8300HKD ~ $1000 US. I'm guessing street price is probably going to be the same as it was before.

For just a little bit more money you can get the Cosina 25mm 0.95 which is supposedly a huge step up in quality from the Noktor

When compared to any other 0.95 lens on the market, the price seems like a steal, if I had the money I'd like to try one out.
