F150 Raptor Expedition Build thread

I figure we've got enough stuff going on now to start a dedicated build thread for the Raptor. :)

The idea is to build a very Land-Rover style expedition vehicle in terms of equipment and functionality, but mix it with a more Baja truck aesthetic and performance :) It will then be used for expedition trips in the Middle East so it seems to be the logical thing to do :)

Been wanting the Raptor for a very long time and in January - finally managed to get one. A 2013 GCC Spec F150 Raptor with improved cooling over the USA-spec models. Bigger radiator, bigger transmission cooler etc etc. make it more suitable for the climate. The new Air Conditioned seats are a nice feature too!

Step 1: Get it dirty:

Step 2: Collect roof top tent, raise front suspension:

Next - 3D Scan the truck and design the rack that will support the roof top tent, lighting, Off Road Flags, and two Awnings:

Then - Warn Hidden Winch - 9.5 XPS with wireless remote:

Then - pulled apart the factory wheels, removed the 12 bolt vanity trim ring and had them powdercoated a lighter silver colour and then re-assembled with the Ford Racing functional 24 bolt beadlock ring. The same wheel can have the tire installed either way - depending on which ring you use.

And the latest update - fabrication of the roof rack is well under way :)

More updates soon - the rack should be finished tomorrow - then it's going on a raw unpainted test run over the weekend - and then if it's all good it comes off for sand-blasting and powder-coating.

Awesome man...certainly going to follow this one!

I love the hidden winch and wheels.

Have a cousin that lives over in Dubai...looks like you are enjoying it!

Will be watching! There's a Raptor for sale at the Chevy dealer up the road. Don't think I haven't thought about it.

Wow! This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen from any manufacturer. Almost as cool as the truck itself.

Looking good so far, can't wait to see more. Keep up the excellent work.

Great build....as usual! The ability to easily stash a hidden winch on the newer F150s is a nice feature.

Question: Do the Raptor side steps serve as functional sliders?

Cheers
