Hiya,

I'm in the process of building out a 98 E150 Salem Kroger 4x4 van (we call her Beluga) . I have a FanTastic roof vent and have ideas
about how to deal with the corrugation (gasket material spacers on both sides and lots of skylight sealant).
That said I'd love to know what the right way to do it is or at least what people have done that works sans leaks.

We are taking pictures of the build and will start a thread for it soon.

Thanks

So you used something like this putty tape and just screwed into the roof with machine screws?

This was my initial plan but I started questioning it. How long have you been leak free?

Not mine. Maybe Toolman will see this and chime in. I know that he is in S. Cali, so it gets a beating from the sun. You could send him a PM.

Yeah I just figured that out too (toolmans thread). I'll ping him as I'm in centralish CA so our weather is similar.
Thanks :)

If it were me......

I'd go ahead and level things up with your putty tape, and then screw down your vent.

Then I'd get some Dicor self leveling sealant and go all oround the edges. Find any roof picture of a modern rv and its that stuff that looks like white pudding all around the vents and fans and what-not.

Then if you really want to forget about it forever, I'd get a roll of Eternabond tape and go around all the edges again. This product has a huge following among the DIY rv crowd when it comes to roof repairs and believe me, it's called "Eterna"bond for a reason.

I talked with Toolman and he used just the putty tape, screwed it, then Dicored it which is my current plan one Amazon ships me the Dicor.
Interesting suggestion with the Erernabond as I forgetting it forever is my goal!
