FG clutch master cylinder

On a road trip: denver-Chicago-Rochester-Maine--Nova Scotia-Newfoundland and back. In the middle of Ohio, my foot started slipping off the clutch pedal. Thought I had stepped in some oil in the rest area. But no, clutch master cylinder was leaking. Got on at a Fuso dealer in Syracuse NY. But heads up if you have to replace one. There's a cotter pin holding the end of the plunger to the clutch pedal that is in a very difficult place to reach. I managed to get it out but you really need a very long needle nosed pliers or vice grips to access it. Getting it back in will be dicey. (edit--I decided to replace the cotter pin with a spring hitch clip. Much easier to install and remove. The FG manual shows a spring clip in that location but mine had a cotter pin and it looked original)

Also discovered that Fuso dealers don't carry a lot of parts. Seems their policy is to rely on a national or regional warehouse which then ships to the dealer. So if you're looking for parts in the US, be aware there is typically a few days wait for parts. I drove about 3 hours to the dealer who just happened to have a clutch master cylinder. But for instance, he didn't have a slave cylinder for the FG.

By the way, fuel economy checked over the first 1600 miles has been 12.6 mpg. Driving interstates at about 63-67mph

Yes, I have checked. My speedo is about 1-2 mph high. I don't believe that kind of mileage is possible.

Another word of advice on installing a clutch MC. Make sure the activation rod is adjusted to the correct length. Probably easiest to mimic the MC you remove. I didn't do that and I've had to play around with the adjustment to get the clutch to engage in the sweet spot and to activate the switch which tells the exhaust brake it's ok to deploy since the clutch is not disengaged.
