Finding a route on the cheap..

The wife and I are planning a 3 week trip next summer. We will have our 1967 Serro Scotty trailer and will pull it with a 2000 Discovery. We want to go from Castle Rock, CO -> Glendo, WY (have family there) -> Teton N.P. (will get reservations)-> Yellostone(reservations)-Glacier N.P. (reservations)-> through the Cascades->Durango,CO->Home. With the exceptions of the National Parks we will be "looking" for a place to stay. I want to do BLM or FS area camping. "boondocking" style... Not Wal-mart parking lots and KOA lots. I was just curious the best way to go about finding info on where we can go. Thanks.

I have talked to a few folks that have offered great ideas.. I just want the trip to go smooth as possible.. plus our plans often change if we find an area we really love!

You can do dispearsed camping on BLM Land. FS too, but I like the privacy that BLM gives me

Try searching their site for maps and info.

Here is the FS too.

Yes....it really is this simple. Know where you want to go, then search their maps and see what works for you.

The BLM website is kind of hard to navigate. And there are few easy to click on map links.

I tried searching the Cody Field Office as an example. Doing a search seems to be the quickest way to find info. on a certain area.

"Things to note: Camping is allowed at the trailhead. Be aware, this is grizzly bear country".
