Firestone Destination MT

I have a 2007 Tacoma Double Cab long bed. I am looking at putting Firestone Destination MT's on it Does anyone have any experience with these tires? I am not into rock crawling but I spend a lot of time off road in the 4 Corners area. Looking for a tire that will do well in the sand, shed the mud, survive a trip to Toroweap with minimal chinking and stand up to sagebrush and cedar sidewall knives that I tend to find in the area. I have been running BFG AT's 265/75/16 with reasonably good luck but I am looking for something more agressive that doesn't require me to wear ear plugs at highway speeds.

I have been looking at BFG AT's, Nitto Terra Grapplers, and Cooper Discovery STT's but I am leaning towards the Firestone.

Buddy of mine ran them on a s10 Blazer. They did very well in mud and had good road manners for an MT. Pretty tough tires for what they are (non-swamper)

I highly suggest them, but compared to the STT's, it would be a tough decision. (the BFG ATs and Terra Graps are in a different league of tires)

eBay has awesome prices on STTs, But your local shops will probably have really good deals on the Firestones. Go in on a Monday, when they are slow and desperate for a sale, or in a "bad part of town" where mud tires arnt sold often. They cold cut you a hell of a deal and it will fly under the radar to the upper management, as tires like that are less commonly sold, and inventory is less accounted and noticed. (where as the bling bling, and budget stuff is more commonly sold) I used to work at a tire place in a "bad part of town" and got BIG hookups on tires...

I have a set on my 2002 tacoma- They have lasted at least 50k and do surprisingly well in the rain for a mud tire.

Besides mud, we get lots of rain down here, My tacoma is a daily driver and I commute 150mls round trip per day- These tires hold up great.
