I have a 2000 RR with the 4.0 and the driver side head gasket took a leave of absence. It won't start or run at all. What would be the. Best course of action?

You can feel it pushing out air as it cranks between the block and head and it won't start. It's in great condition otherwise with a couple smaller issues with 114k miles. These engines are known to slip liners/sleeves, so I guess I was hoping for some direction. Does anyone know of anyone that sells reman long blocks in the U.S.?

What was the course that made the gasket take a leave of absence? Did it overheat? If so did you hear any ping noises prior to it leaving?

It got hot in what seems to me a really short amount of time. I'm pretty good about watching gauges and this climbed extremely fast followed by shutting off never to restart

Yes it does. Unfortunately I don't know much about the history of this vehicle. It was an auction buy that I put a whole 140 miles on before this happened

Auction = multiple issues

Never seen an engine push air out between head and block, to the point you could feel it. Cracked or something else creating the air pressure?

A really really poor shade tree mechanic had been in there?

One thing to check is if the fuel line that runs up the back side of the motor popped when the motor overheated. I had a 02 P38 that blew the head gasket and overheated and the fuel line popped when that happened. I spent a ridiculous amount of time chasing my tail on that one until I found it.

Thats why I think it may have slipped a liner,
or in other words,a sleeve moved in the block.

A while back my 91 created that air symptom and it was just the HG. Let's cross our fingers.

Order from BMA parts. As for Carlos and tell him Abel referred you to him. Bmaparts.com they have best prices for LRs. Cheaper than Atlantic British or other sites.

Try and take a compression test in the remaining cylinders. Keep an account of spark plugs and share them here by taking a picture they may tell the history you may not know.
