First Snow

Driving from Durango to Denver yesterday in the Northern San Luis Valley I officially saw and felt the first snow of the season, 26 Aug. Usually it's Sep 10/11 that I'm in my first snow. The temp in the 30s sure did feel good though!

One year we got about 12" on Lake Dillion, CO on 4 Jul but couldn't decide if that was the first or last snow of the season.

We were going to do the Sand Dunes with the boys, but Durango ended up on the stopping list due to a free place to stay until the rooftent is in place. We'll have to hit Moab on Memorial Weekend on the way back to AZ.

Ciao!

Dude, I heard it snowed on Loveland Pass during the Triple Bypass, which was 7/8. One year we tried to stay after it and got to ski every month in 2002. Yeah, yeah, July and August were at St. Mary's, tho... But, yeah, it's snowed on us on 4th of July one year during a backpacking trip at Eagle's Nest. Bring it on, I'm ready to ski. Think Snow!

I've had it snow on me a few times in July and Aug over the years. Lets not even talk about Sept. One more reason to always have winter clothing with you when in the mountains, year round.
