For Sale or Trade 1994 Landcruiser 75 series Troopcarrier diesel/5sp $18,000

As many of you know I am an amputee & I just got back from the Dr and have orders to give up the manual trans. It seems that I am stretching my hamstring & causing muscle cramps in my below the knee stump which make my leg hurt like crap & my prosthetic not fit.
After 3 days using ice packs & not being able to walk much I am starting to agree with the Dr.

Putting an auto behind the 1HZ isn't worth the time or trouble so I am considering selling or trading off my Troopie. I love this rig so don't expect to lowball me or sucker me into letting it go cheap. I have had it about 6 months now and have done a ton of work. Still some to go so the price won't go down as I finish of the resto/rebuild :)

I was already on the fence as to what to do when we move to Australia next year and I really should have thought it through more before buying a manual trans rig to go travel the backside of beyond. But hey that means someone else gets a chance at a rare rig in the USA. Oh had it has been titled in Florida & Arizona without any issues, passed Arizona diesel smog (opacity) easily. Feel free to pm me if you have questions regarding your state and what the process what like for me here in Arizona.

1994 Toyota Landcruiser 75 series Troopcarrier
1HZ inline 6 cylinder naturally aspirated diesel
5 speed manual trans
Factory Limited Slip rear axle
Leaf springs all around and they appear to have a 2in lift over stock
A/C blows ice cold even in the Phoenix summer
Factory snorkle with Donaldson large pre-cleaner
National Luna dual battery setup with 2 Odyssey batteries up front and a group 31 Sears/Odyssey battery in the rear.
Custom fuse box in rear
Extreme Outback High Output compressor & 2gal tank in rear
Pioneer cd player with aux input
4 new speakers
4 custom bucket seats with custom frames/mounts by Safari Pacific, this allows a pass through from the front to the back of the rig. Also gives stadium style seating to the rear folks so they can see out the front & sides easily
Triple layer soundproof & insulation done to floor/roof/walls
Custom rear storage/sleep setup for 2. This includes a Storm case.
Custom rear bumper with swingout for the tire & propane tank
3 Rigid LED light bars, 2x6in & 1x10in, these are wicked bright
5 33x10.5x15in BFG AT's that are 6 months old
National Luna 52L weekender (not quite sure if this fridge will go with the rig)

The rig had some penetrating rust in the front foot wells & rear wheel wells I dealt with using the POR15 kit, rock solid and should be fine forever.
The rig has 494,000 km on it which is 306,000 miles, should last a long time more as I have recently completed:
New injectors
Rebuilt to new spec Injection Pump
New glow plug
New timing belt
Complete front end rebuild
Longfeld Lifetime Birfelds & Axles
New fan clutch
New AC idler pulley
New belts on AC & Alt with spares included

The rig starts & runs great and gets 17-18 mpg cruising 65 on the highway, 15-16 mpg on the trail.
It is narrow enough to fit easily on the trails yet has enough headroom to let you stay inside when the weather turns rough in camp.

It is Right Hand Drive which took me a few days to get used to put is worth the fun of owing.

I have been slowly rebuilding and setting this rig up to own forever, but between my recent issues cramping up on the Mojave Road and now my Dr telling me it will only get worse I have to come back to reality. Although I am just stubborn enough to go have a new leg made instead of selling/trading the rig :)

I will go get more interior & exterior pics in the am.

As for trades I am open to almost anything that reaches an equal value...1 rig, a rig & cash, a rig & trailer, a couple of rigs....My first thought is something with 4 doors & a FlipPac but maybe you can make me think outside the box.

I will be continuing to work on this rig with my 13yr old as it has been a great project. We will be finishing out the interior panels, rear door drop down table and some other stuff since we have most of that started or completed waiting for install.

Lance that is to bad. I remember you bringing it to the first CSC meeting after you got it home and the glow you and your son had about it was special. You guys have put a ton of time into it. This is a special Toyota that is in great shape and is going to make someone happy. Good luck with the sale and I hope whoever gets it, finishes it to be the amazing troopy you and your son planned it to be.

Hey Lance, sorry to hear the rig needs to go. I ran into a similar issue last year with a year of hip/leg pain that I finally tracked down to getting in and out of my Miata. Had to sell it (it was my 3rd one) and though I miss it, I have not had the pain in over a year now. That made it worth it in the end.

Glad I got a chance to see this at the MR last month. Good luck with your sale of a very cool rig!!!

Hey Moody,
It was your 80 that got me thinking trade instead of straight up sell....I am open to all kinds of ideas :)

Dang it Lance! You're killing me here! Beautiful truck. I love RHD. Prefer it, actually. And I know the mods/updates are done right. Good luck, Sir.

Cheers,

Hey Paul...it would look great with big ol' Equipt Stickers to match the one on the fridge :)

I will be going out in the am to take more detailed pics of the inside & out...and under and engine and all that.

As to saving it for my younger son...well he is getting my granddad's 72 Chevy 1/2 ton truck with a RamJet 350 crate engine, 700r4 trans and posi rear...we worked on it some when my older son (20 now) was in High School and will finish it out for my younger son.

I actually just got wind on another forum about an electric clutch setup and will be making phone calls tomorrow.

Is your clutch booster working? At your mileage it is possible that it gave up the ghost before you got it and you've been pushing the clutch manually. It's worth checking out. Just pull the vacuum hose off and make sure that it gets a lot harder to depress the clutch.

I recently changed out the clutch slave cylinder as the old one was leaking.
Bled the system and all seemed well. I will post a pic but it doesn't look like a have a clutch booster like the brakes have. Much smaller parts & housing.
It isn't so much that the clutch is stiff, really it is easy to use, it is the repeated motion and the holding of my leg in the air (no ankle to move) that is making things cramp.
Travis of Safari Pacific built me a dead pedal next to the clutch pedal which really has helped.
But other than an electric clutch setup I would have no options if I messed up my fake leg out in the middle of nowhere.

Do you work at an airport? That looks like the Chandler VOR right behind the bottom pic.

My sister said that she would trade you straight up for her 80. Good luck with the sale hope you find something just as cool to replace it.

Took a bunch of detail pics for you guys and put them in a gallery I will link to at the bottom of this post...
But real quick a few that I thought some folks might be interested in..

First the roof is 6ft 9.5in sitting on 33's and I was told a 2in lift....fits in my carport if I unscrew the ham/cb antenna

Getting my kid into the back means folding the passenger seat flat and he climbs over, pretty easy for him but not something that would work with a carseat.
He also sometimes comes in through the smaller rear door and walks between the storage boxes.

This is the major reason (after no computers & all simple mechanicals) that I love this rig, the ability to sit on the rear sleep platform (either side) in foul/cold weather and hang out, or stealth camp when traveling.

Sleep platform in action, of course I usually have a REI 3.5in self inflating mat on here.

This is a link to the gallery where I put 50 large resolution pics and descriptions, please post/pm/email me with any questions.
