Hello fellow travellers !
We are now sadly selling Nemo, our dear VW Combi T2 of 1989. This van definitely differs from its more modern peers, but will still allow you to drive any roads here in South America and it will allow you even more encounters and discoveries to make your journey unforgettable. We add to the Combi itself all the gear you need to hit the road straight away.
By regularly taking care of Nemo the way we did, you will just like us be able to drive easily through Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru (and maybe more!) without it failing on you. Our Combi turned out to drive perfectly on asphalted roads (in good and (very) bad shape), on ripio (dirt or gravel roads with crazy holes), sand, salt…until 4500m of altitude.
Know that you won’t ever be left alone with a Combi because there are Combi fan clubs all over the continent, and they are always ready to help! We will give you all the contacts we’ve met and of course you could count on us in case of any doubt or question.
SPEED:
As any VW Combi with its entirely original engine, its maximum speed is 80km/h, which is not the fastest, but allows one to fully enjoy the journey, for those who really enjoy living the present moment. Besides you will encounter many roads here that are in quite a bad shape and on which you wouldn’t be able to go faster!
MILEAGE METER:
We bought the Combi at 37 000km and today it shows 57 000km. It is hard to tell the real mileage because the counter only shows 5 numbers, but no matter what, Nemo is in a super good shape.
MECHANICAL ISSUES:
We have only had one major problem linked to our alternator, which we had to change (the alternator is a piece that you change very rarely in a vehicle so you won’t have to worry about that). Apart from that, all the mechanics we’ve met were quite astonished to see a Combi in such good shape. The other cares that we provided are actually daily maintenance, that you will learn easily with the “Combi for dummies” guide that we will send you in addition to the quick “training” that we will give you. We will also give you our complete mechanical history that include the following works:
Just to be noted: a tiny rock found its way until our windshield, so we had the impact repaired and it hasn’t grown ever since (15 April 2019).
EQUIPMENT:
We have redesigned part of the interior that was not entirely optimized. That way we have installed a cooking table with backing trays and sink (water intake with a foot pump), and we have installed a deep cycle battery linked to a solar panel that allows you to be absolutely self reliant anywhere you go, and even when you’re not driving!
To sleep:
The Combi is filled with storages and hiding places for your secret or regular stuff.
We leave you all the gear you might need if you want to get into some DIY works besides all the regular tools (see pic)
Mechanical gear:
We also leave all the “compulsory” new spare parts that you might need at some point.
Asking price (all included): 10 000 € or 11 300 US$
Our dear should be sold around mid-August 2019 in Chile (Santiago or other, depending on you). We could also drive a bit with you to help you get used to your new home if you want to, of course.
Don’t hesitate to contact us on Whatsapp at +55 11 9 4663 6885 or by email at sophie.ngo18@gmail.com for any questions or any more pictures.
Your journey will be a unique experience in itself, and it will be even enriched with this legendary vehicle, and we wish you to benefit from it as much as we have!
