For those who sleep in their 100 series... a few questions

As an avid camper (about 20-25 nights a year) and a tent and RTT user I have a few questions for those who sleep in their 100 series.

I tried sleeping in the cruiser on a recent trip in the Rocky Mountains with some friends. I have no drawers so I just tumbled the rear seats forward, threw down a sleeping pad and slept at a diagonal and just barely fit inside (I'm 6') to test it out. I slept great, we had typical high country mountain winds (20-30mph) and it was in the 30's that night and the cab of the truck shed both the cold and wind in ways I wasn't expecting. I cracked my front windows and my rear vents and tilted the sunroof open. I am contemplating a drawer/platform system for my 100 and I had a few questions before trying to decide if I want to make it level with the folded rear seats to sleep on top of.

Questions?
  1. How do you combat compensation? I had ice on nearly all windows, it burned off quick but if I got in with wet/snowy clothes I'd bet it'd be really wet inside.
  2. How much head room do you have if you have drawers that sit level with the rear seat... before adding a mattress or pad?
  3. I need to use a cargo divider to keep the kids safe for the other times I am not camping or when the family comes along. Anyone using a removable cargo divider or have a solution to this aspect?
  4. Given that I have good tents and a trailer with a RTT, how many of you sleep in the cab as a primary solution verses a backup for bad/extreme weather?
  5. I've been thinking of adding a canvas/ripstop nylon rear tent to the hatch/tailgate so that I have the room to stretch out over the tailgate and not need to base the drawer heights on the rear seat folded height. Anyone tried one of the style tents to gain the foot room needed?
  6. Anyone created curtains or window coverings to increase privacy and make the rig a little darker in the morning?
  7. If you sleep in your rig, have you added a changing room, or added another tent style shelter for camping or changing clothes?
  8. Do you use a camping sleeping pad or a dedicated mattress style pad? Recommendations?

Thanks, this is the last big thing to think through before starting my drawer build system.

Drew - I am following you around Expo this evening :)

I am 6'2" and sleep on top of my drawer system in the 100 from time to time. I forget the height of the drawers, but I have a half inch piece of plywood I place on top of the folded down passenger side 2nd row seat and sleep on that. The cavity in the drawer system was built for our husky to ride back there, and is nice and cozy for my to sleep there as well. I push the PS front seat forward a bit, then install the plywood, and then have a nice flat sleeping area. I've only slept one night where it was pretty cold (~30-40 degrees) and had the windows cracked and a Mr. Buddy running on "pilot" for the night. I was very comfortable in my 20 degree down bag.

I cannot sit straight up when laying on top of the platform. This is a minor compromise but not a big deal for me. I scuttle myself in and out of the middle 2nd row seat to change and get situated.

We used ALPS Mountaineering self-inflating mats in the back of ours (I don't remember the size, but we used two side-by-side for me and my wife). We do have drawers, so they were level with the backseats when folded down... Great mat though for not being very thick.

Our changing room was that or a cheap pop-up privacy tent or just changing in the back of the truck--neither is ideal. The drawers make it hard to sit up...

In warm weather, we use these really cool folding screens that are cut to fit the 100's rear passenger door windows. They're a pretty slick set up: plastic frame with a groove on the bottom to lock into the slightly rolled up window. You could make something similar with mosquito nets and magnets... In winter we just opened the back glass, but that wasnt the best.

We finally moved to a RTT: so much better.

I've slept in the back of mine a couple of times. I don't have a fancy set up by any means. I am right at 6' tall. I made my drawers level with the folded 2nd row seats as you mentioned and use a queen size egg crate foam mattress that fits perfect.

I move the front seats all the way forward for plenty of room, and my head goes towards the tailgate. As was already stated, you cannot sit upright but there's plenty of room to move around.

My cousin and I camped it one night in Colorado when it was down to around 0*f. With good sleeping bags and wool blankets neither of us got cold. There was ice on inside of all windows by morning though. I just turned on the engine with the heat all the way up till everything thawed.

When camping on the beach I crack the sunroof and open the back window vents.
