Found a great water pump solution

So, our camp chiefs (girlfriends) have been asking for a better working water system. After pricing out different options and trying to piece together parts, I found this bad boy on Amazon. Designed for a 5 gallon water bottle, it works perfect on the FrontRunner jerry can. 28 bucks for a push button water pump. I'm sure it would fit/adapt/etc to other water containers as well.

In Mexico we saw a manual version. The no batteries idea was a little more appealing as it would be something stored between trips and corroded batteries are drawn to me.

Nice find.
If one was worried about leaking alkaline batteries I suspect an eneloop D spacer would solve that issue, if they did not want the manual version.

Brilliant catch. How wide is that slotted cap that fits over the jug opening? That's one dimension not listed in the specs. And can I assume it doesn't make a complete seal, that it just sorta holds it there? I ask cuz I'd need to use it on a Scepter type jug with big openings, and I figure it could just set there (their hand pump looks nice too, but you'd definitely need a good seat for it since you have to press down to pump).

Their other pumps also look quite nice, for everything from barrels to fuel. Thanks for the tip!

The eneloop AA-D adapter is great idea. Be sure not to use rechargeable batteries, though; mfgr specifies alkaline.

Does anyone know how or what I can use to step down 12V to 3V(2x1.5)? I know the battery tube could be wired to a little receptacle that the 12-3 transformer cord went in.

Also, this pump would easily adapt to Reliant's 6-gal AquaTainer by cutting the pickup tube to fit. The AquaTainer is better IMO than a clear jug because it's opaque. This makes it harder for bacteria to grow.

We used this solution years ago. All looked like it would work fine until the units started to turn themselves on and drain the water containers all by themselves.

Nice find. Is the spout removable at all? I wonder how well it would stand up to a rugged environment (accidental drops, being left in the weather etc.).

I have one of those little pumps. They are not rugged at all but are so inexpensive it doesn't matter. They work well for what they are.
