That is a sweet setup. How much was it? And who makes that tent? I want one!

Any pics of the tent closed up?

Will I be breaking the rules if I share? I found a pic on Craig's list and called the number. He said he had several which led to his site

I don't think you're breaking G any rules unless you are the one selling them or are promoting the product for personal gain.

Great ideas at work here. Having a useable utility trailer is a big dividend. My only concern on this trailer is the 3500 pound torsion axle. Don't get me wrong, I love them, but it appears to be terribly over sprung. I can not imagine that trailer weighing anywhere near that as a camping trailer. If it weighs more than 1500 pounds I would check with axle manufacturer to see if it can down sprung to closer to the using weight. 3500 pound torsion axles mean exactly that if not more. I use Dexter and they have the same outside dimensions but can be down sprung to 1800 pounds with electric brakes and 6 lug hubs. If you are going to use it more for the utility type, then the weight should be fine, but camping and off road it is most likely going to bounce quite a bit.

Not much off-rod use in WI. Can and would you please elaborate on the over sprung? I believe the trailer weighs 975 or so with the tent. I thought torsion allowed for a smoother ride? Are you meaning tighter bands wills create a springier ride?

Never mind, I found some old threads, but will ask this, on mostly flat roads, will the 3500 be an issue?

I think it will. Dexter actually compensates for the customer overloading the trailer. It would be almost impossible to get that much weight in it on a camping run. That is a lot of weight, it would have very little sag and not enough weight to move the trailing arms. This is where most trailers with torsion fail. Over sprung. As 3500 pound regular axles can be brought down by less springs. You can not change a torsion axle, other than replacing it.

Figure the trailer weighs in at 975 with tent, add water, food, battery, solar and the wife's junk (300 pounds at least) lol, camping gear and you might get to 1500. That means the springs/rubber are capable of carrying another two thousand pounds.

If the axle is dexter, you can refit it with a proper weight axle. Alko I am not sure. Those are the two main torsion axle manufacturers.

They will ask for drop, hub face, main frame rails measurements. Only four bolts hold the axle to the bracket that is welded to the frame.

I would certainly consider it, as state for the tent and the use as a utility to trailer.

Also, as all of us do, once it is in you hands, you will be testing it and your self when towing looking for tests along the trail for it. Just the nature of the game. Being a jarhead you know story.

I see positives both ways. YOu might be able to get then to change the axle down to the 1800 pound area, by just asking the manufacturer.

Good luck!!!

Very nice. Rig.. My only concern would be finding enough flat ground every evening when traveling. When your trying to make the miles, we often just pull off the trail and park where the trailer alone is flat. As well, I'm not sure too many campgrounds would accommodate this unless you unhooked and rotated 90°..
