I am supposed to go buy this tomorrow after the money transfer goes through.

It needs some work, but for the price and that fact it fits my old dodge perfectly I was sold.

On an old pop up camper like this mid 80s four wheel camper, where would the VIN be? I have to apply for a lost title.

I'm not sure where they put the serial number on the really old FWC's ??

But the only place I have seen it on the FWC's would be inside the front channel of the camper frame.

There should be a serial number written on the aluminum frame of the camper under the carpet that is at the very front of the cab-over bed area (inside – cabover bed area – behind bed cushion).

If you pop the camper roof up and pull down / pull out the cab-over bed cushion, usually in the front portion of the camper frame (Aluminum C Chanel) there is a strip of carpet tucked in there (inside / front nose of camper).

If you peel the carpet back, there is usually a serial number written in black pen. It will usually be in the driver's side / front corner written on the frame.

(SEE SAMPLE PICTURES ATTACHED)

If there is not a serial number ther, I suppose you could write a number and make a serial number for it ? Take the "just get it done" approach if you really want to get the camper registered.

Back in the days our serial numbers would be something like ... 12537-G

Hope this helps.

Happy Camping !

Thanks Stan!! I will check it first thing when I hit the dock in a week.

I was going to email you, but since you are extremely prompt and are extremely helpful on the forum ill ask you here.

The camper needs/will need new pop-up fabric liner. I was told they are about 1500 bucks. Can I order this from you(after I get the specifics of my camper squared away of course)? I also wanted to order a few more odds and ends from you I see on the newer campers, but the liner is step one along with a trip to my cabinetwork guys for the renewed interior I have planned.

My goal is to sell this camper after a year or two and order a brand new one from you after I finish saving up for it.

Thanks!

FWC quoted me a $950 (IIRC - maybe it was $1,000) for new fabric for my '91 Granby. ATC quoted me $650. As I understand it, you need to exit the vehicle to close up the storm flaps on the ATC tops - but the FWC tops can be done from inside. I ended up not replacing it since I ended up replacing all the siding and a few other things came up that killed the budget (the fabric is still serviceable - just has a few patches and a couple small holes).

Thanks everyone! and thanks for the info goodtimes! Ill have to ask you about the siding replacement later when I get this thing in pieces in my garage. I looked up the cost of fiberglass sides, and after adding in all my electronic goodies, then factoring in time I dont have due to working 90 hours a week, a brand new ones built to spec was cheaper in the long run. We will see in a year.
