A little background: After the oil embargo and gas crisis of the 1970s, RV maker Winnebago decided the time was right for a more fuel efficient camper. Winnebago contracted with Renault for a diesel powered FWD cab and chassis, and built a camper body for it. The result was called the LeSharo, and was sold for 10 years or so.
Problems with the Renault powertrain convinced Winnebago to switch in 1994 to a camper based on a VW platform called the Rialta.
