Front differential breather, need a little advice...

I've been ignoring this problem for a a while now. When I reinstalled my front diff, during the jockeying into position, my front diff breather hose became disconnected. I didn't notice at first, since it was a slow puking effect and most it was trapped on my skid. I thought I had overfilled my diff at first. I've been using the band aid of topping it off every once in a while.

To sum up, do I need to drop the entire diff to access it? Or has someone managed to get to it without resorting to that?

It's a 01 Tacoma V6 ADD.

Thanks!

As you've probably discovered, it's pretty tight up above the front diff. With small hands and a lot of patience you could probably get the rubber hose on the nipple, whether or not you could afix a hose clamp remains to be seen.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you as we didn't connect the breather hose when we installed my front diff. It is something I've been meaning to do and will probably attempt this weekend. (Thanks for the reminder... though I need to reseal the ADD actuator also which I think I will need to lower/drop the front diff to accomplish).

Let me know how it goes for you...

I managed to get in there on my 00 Taco, though it have fairly small hands, LOTS of patience, and a strong desire NOT to drop my dif again. So I know it can be done, but it is a PAIN.

Good luck, let us know if you find a good way to do it!
