Front drum brakes keep tightening/self adjusting

I'm on a road trip and my front brakes keep over adjusting or somehow they are dragging. I have stopped several times to back off the star wheel adjuster and it works for a bit but after using the brakes lightly they re-adjust. I Jack up the wheels and they are hard to turn. There isn't any play in the hub/well and it spins freely when re adjusted. Has anyone had this happen?

Good possibility it's your soft brake hoses that are swelling internally and preventing bleed off. I replace hoses every five to eight years or so, on all vehicles.

Interesting, that does sound plausible. So theoretically I should be able to crack open the bleeder screws to relieve the pressure and the wheels should spin freely. I'll have to check this out later today.

I wonder if there are any aftermarket steel braided lines that might fit and have a longer life.

Does anyone have part numbers for these, I'm away from my home computer with the parts catalog

Just got under the truck and cracked the bleeder screw and sure enough fluid streamed out and I could hear the shoes retract. Now I just need to find some parts with the holiday. They look like pretty generic lines, if anyone has some part numbers I'd be very grateful

I had some more time to look over things and the brakes will release if I pump the pedal with the motor off. Once I start the truck and press the brake the booster builds up vacuum and won't allow them to release all the way. If I unplug the vacuum line to booster they will release again when I pump the brakes.

I've been trying to adjust the brake pedal to make sure it has enough free play but cannot figure out how to rotate the shaft once I loosen the lock nut.

Someone was definitely already messing with the booster as the clamp on the vacuum hose was already off.

Welp I may have just had a Christmas miracle. It all the sudden started working like normal. The only thing I can think I did was somehow reset the diaphragm in the booster when I was blowing and sucking into the vacuume line to test the check valve. We'll see if it holds.
