I'm just not using this rig and hate to see it sit in storage so I've decided to sell it.

I put about $15,000 into the setup the way it is and knowing I'm going to take a hit has kept me from selling it so far.

I bought it about 4 years ago and did a decent write up on the rebuild I did to get it in good condition. http://www.nomadicman.com/kvan.html

I tried selling it once with all of the goodies like the Engel fridge, Powertank and some other stuff, but didn't get much response so I've decided to take most of that stuff off and try again.

That is cool.. We just bought a 2WD G20 van for $350! That said its a little haggard and are probably going to sell it... Needed a new carb, pulled one out of a junk yard.. The carb setup on this era sucks (the electronically controlled carb.. with a computer... If I was going to keep I'd probably go TBI injectors and a Megaquirt system. Cheers, nice van!

I thought about adding fuel injection when I put the new engine in mine but I spent over $4,000 on the engine and the injection system would have added another $1500.
Since mine doesn't have any electronic systems on it, it is simple and easy to work on if needed.

The beauty of these older chevy vans is that they are everywhere and parts are cheap at NAPA or Auto Zone. The wrecking yards are full of them and Chevy didn't do too many changes over the years.

I guess I need to go into more detail on this rig if I intend to sell it.

1986 Chevy G30 1 ton Sportvan. Converted to 4x4 by Pathfinder using a Dana 44 front axle and leaf spring suspension. Stock GM corporate 14 bolt rear end and connected up with a Turbo 400 transmission with a deep aluminum pan and a Bog Warner 1345 transfer case.

It came with an "M" 350 motor which is a truck engine and never had catylitic convertors but came facory with dual exhaust. I replaced the original "M" motor in July of 03 with a GM crate motor of the same kind, it now has about 30,000 miles on it.
Added an Edelbrock manifold, 600 cfm carb and air cleaner along with a new
Heatbuster 4 core radiator that has a dual Flex a Lite electric fan that is switched to be able to control it.
All new GM A/C parts including condensor, evaporator and compressor but still using the older R12 because it cools better than the newer r134, at least that's what I was told.

I did a lot of custom work to the interior including all new undercoating of the floor, insulation, custom cut rubber insulated floor mat and made a platform bed/storage out of 3/4 plywood bolted to the floor. The storage area in front has 2 hydraulic rams that raise the front for access to a 2nd Optima Yellow Top battery connected to a Hellroaring isolator/combiner that can be switched to add it to the Yellow Top in the engine bay. Combined, the 2 batteries run the Ramsey winch on the front bumper very well. This setup allows all accessories to be run from the main battery, yet allows the van to always start in case the main battery gets drained. I mounted a 10 lb. Powertank in the rear corner of the platform and with the 25 foot coiled hose can air up all tires without having to remove it. 2 pull out drawers are accessed from the rear and hold some tools and other camping gear.

The Con Ferr 5'x10' foot 6" porthole roof rack was reinforced with some gussets and then oak plank flooring was added. I made a mount for the spare 265/70/16 BFG All Terrain radial and added a bracket for the Hi-Lit jack as well.
Plenty of room up top for other stuff, I have 2 Pelican 1620 cases with some spare parts and recovery gear that fit side by side perfectly, a 5 gallon Wedco Jerry can along with a Rubbermaid Actionpacker that I keep firewood in, a small Honda EU1000 generator and still more room for whatever.

Carr Superhoops were added under each door for easier access.

Amenities inside include a Kenwood CD/MP3 stereo with 4x6 dash and 6x9 door speakes and can be controlled with a remote. Recaro seats that are very comfortable, a Garmin 276C GPS using a RAM mount and a remote antenna on the roof for better reception.
Engle 43 fridge/freezer with the slide lock and transit bag is mounted right behind the driver and can be accesed while driving if you need a cold drink.

I guess I could go on but really the link to the rebuild page I did shows pictures and gives better detail on the work I put into getting this rig expedition ready.

There are currently 2 Recaros for the front installed.

I have a bench seat that fits behind those that hold 2 comfortably.
Haven't had that in since I redid the inside, but it is setup to be in there.
I think the bench has seat belts, but would have to check on that.

I'm out on the road now, the van is in Las Vegas, I should be back there in a couple of weeks to verify.

WOW, $5500 in Ohio and that van would be SOLD!! Looks great and you have done a ton of work to it.

Mileage is 10 mpg.

Stereo, Recaro seats, Optima batteries with Hellroaring isolator and wheels and tires stay on the van at that price.

Goodies are Powertank, Honda Generator, Engle Fridge, Conn Ferr roof rack, Wedco Jerry can, Hi- Lift and mount, Pelican cases, Ramsey winch, Garmin GPS, Wave 3 catylitic heater and custom made memory foam mattress.
