Sure, Hilldweller has his fun AI generator and his silly Action Figure AI generator, but does he have this one? 🤣

This one allows you to play with some ideas about how you’d outfit your new cheap, little ($20,000!) Bezo’s Built SLATE EV Truck. After all, it is a bit boring in the uninspiring gray stock built.

ā¬†ļø Great catch!

I love the flexibility and utility of the ā€˜midgate’ idea (first seen in the Avalanche). Everything old is new again. That feature would make it a nice little compact ā€˜sleep in the back’ camper with a cab high shell.

Decent range too. But you do have to wonder whether this’ll ever get off the ground though. At least Slate has the Bezomeister! Hopefully they’ll avoid meeting the same sad end as Fisker, Lordstown Motors, ELMS, and so many other EV startups that have quickly died and filed for bankruptcy.

Here’s a face off between these two:

Telo says the MT1 will cost $41,520 and up. Factoring in the $7,500 federal rebate theoretically knocks that down to roughly $34,000.

Range, Batteries & Charging

Here's how these trucks stack up in terms of their EV specs.

Battery Size (base/ optional)52.7/84.3 kWh77/106 kWh
Charge PortNACSNACS
Charge Time (20-80%)30 minutes20 minutes
Max Charge Power120 kW250 kW

Telo (with a tow capacity of 6,000 lbs!) plans to start production of these in 2026 using a contract manufacturer, and using off-the-shelf components to bring down cost.

While sure, anyone with mad AI skills could come up with a cool design and an enticing, fancy website these days, the Telo Trucks MT1 may be really gaining traction as real legit vehicle as importantly, their first pre-production prototype hit the road for testing this past week.
