Fuso FG ABS lights on both 2004 and 2007...like magic!

I have just completed the swap of a flatbed from my 2007 to my 2004 and a camper from my 2004 to my 2007. Now both trucks are running, all electrical and plumbing connections are re-established, and both trucks have the ABS light lit! No fuses are blown (checked dash and high current box fuses). The only chassis electrical work was rewiring the tail lights. Is there some kind of reset for this system? Has anyone experienced this?

tnx

I wonder if each have got a abs wire either disconnected or damaged from the swap would be my guess

Hello Dave:

Ours is a 2014 FG, so everything could be completely different. However, we have occasionally had the ABS indicator light up. It has cleared itself and gone out within 20 miles or 1/2 an hour each time. Have you tried driving them around to see if the lights will clear?

It is interesting, as the 2007 started out just fine and came on after 100 miles of driving. Now it is on constantly. The 2004 came on within 5 miles of driving and has always been on. It has been driven over 50 miles.

I thought about that and could not find any evidence of wire damage in the mounting areas. This is certainly the most likely scenario. Do you know if there is a test tool to troubleshoot the ABS system?

The light on my 2004 and I have an interesting relationship. Sometimes he visits for a while, sometimes he does not. Usually either on or off at start up. Usually when it comes on it stays on until I restart. There have been times when it does not come on for weeks. There has been times when it comes on while driving. As far as testing goes, I think I am going to hit a gravel road and test it out both with the light on and off.

On the 07 there is a way you can check codes by pulling a diag fuse out of the fuse box and counting the flashes of the abs light. If I was near home I could send you the directions but I am very far

I, too, am far from home this week and will get back to it this weekend. I will do some research into this method. Thanks for the guidance

Those diag lights are awesome. It pointed me to the RR speed sensor. I removed it, blew out the port in the rear of the brake housing with some air, check the cable resistance all the way to the ABS controller. Reassembled everything and drove 10' and presto the light went off. Thanks for the tip on the diag lights.

Alas, this seems to be the only way we have to get an indication of any fault codes. What would be really nice is a scan tool that can interpret the OEM Fuso data that comes out of the ECU. Sadly, despite many hours or searching, I have not been able to identify one of these.
