Hello All,
Long time lurker here, I spend most of my time on ih8mud but, enjoy coming here for the expedition emphasis and the lifestyle that surrounds it. I wanted to share our experiences converting the Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ80 to diesel using one of the most commonly available and dependable diesel engines on the market, the Cummins 5.9L 12V 6BT. I know many of you have thought about an engine swap or diesel conversion and we've done a variety of diesel conversions using the Cummins 4BT and 6BT on the Land Cruiser platform and really want to promote the use of the 6BT for consideration in any diesel conversion you may be considering. Hopefully our videos will be of some help in the decision making process and keeping your land cruiser on the road!
Watch our featured builds here, along with how to videos; http://www.youtube.com/user/JonesysAutoClub Youtube videos highlight a variety of projects including; 6BT's, 4BT's, stock auto's, stock dodge auto's, NV4500's, and 60 series split cases.
MOST COMMONLY ASKED QUESTION; How many MPG's do we get? It depends on the setup, 6BT or 4BT, engine tuning, transmission, 2wd, 4wd, etc but around 25 mpg's.
We hope to attend next years NW Overland Rally with a couple examples. http://expeditionportal.com/overlandrallies/
