FZJ80 Fire Extinguisher location?

Just purchased a 2.5 Halon unit and want to put it in easy reach / a place it won't get packed over.

Here is the first obvious choice - problem is the nozzle can get dirty (could put a balloon over it) and the handle could see some kicking around:

Less sexy would be to remove the mount and let it rest in this otherwise useless space:

Ideas?

This is my setup. There is plenty of room on the passenger side, not that I really care as I am not ever in that seat. I put the seat fully forward and mounted it another half inch or so forward of that point.

Then I have a bigger Halon in back. You can sort of see it on the right.

Location number one was my first consideration for the extinguisher, but for now mine resides securely in the cargo area. Location number two is more plausible and would be just as easy to access as location one with less issue(s). Remove the OEM "cup-holder" and secure the extinguisher to the rear center console as you noted, you may then consider upgrading the cup holder to "holder(s)" by relocating the cupholder to right of the center console as pictured.

AMAZINGLY GOOD IDEA! Thank you! Mind sharing the info on the console and cup holder in your rig?

Tuffy center console (8" wide light tan 013/ http://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-85-013-deluxe-stereo-security-console-8-wide.aspx) requires modifying the front center console at the front of the gear shifter shroud and additional bracing/spacer closer to the rear occupant foot area. The Tuffy 2-cup holder (standard drink holder/ http://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-105-034-standard-drink-holder.aspx) is more straightforward and allows for 2- 20oz Nalgene waterbottles to be used without issue. you can see mine in the same location as your first pic. Never been an issue for me and I like the quick and easy access for the driver in case of an emergency.

I like your location Adam. Especially since the buisness end is out of the way of flailing feet. :smiley_drive: Note to self: must mount fire extinguisher!
