Gas Griddle

I was just wondering if a smaller 17 inch Blackstone gas griddle is worth considering as a primary cooking source when you are out camping/overlanding? The standard two burner stove is the trusted go to cooking source. So if anybody has some insights to the pro's and cons of using the griddle as a primary cooking source I would appreciate any feedback for from you.

Thanks in advance.

I bought a Lodge cast iron griddle, flat on one side and sort of serrated on the other for camping. Found it to be better for use at home on the gas stove. Rather heavy for camping. Also found that a skillet works better for me, deeper to hold the grease of bacon cooking and many other things. Had not thought of a griddle as a solo cooking source so my experience does not lead me in that direction. Probably not what you were looking for as an answer.

I have had the 17" Blackstone grill for several years and love it. We use it for every meal camping. super easy to use and clean up a breeze

I have the same lodge griddle and it works ok. Not perfect though as when I’m cooking for more than 2 I’m constantly fighting spillage & grease flaming up with more food. I like the idea of blackstones edges/rims keeping food & grease contained. I’m interested in what ideas/testimonials this thread produces.

I spent alot of time comparing gas griddle and grills. I ultimately decided to get a griddle with drainage pan. Keeping grease contained will be not a problem that way. Need to lug around less pans/skillets sounded great to me.

I do have a smaller titanium single burner that I use for everything else. I primarily cook for 2 people, rarely more.

Not a Blackstone but we have used a Lodge griddle on an early sixties vintage Coleman liquid fuel 413 for years. Sausage or bacon on the griddle while the oven pre-heats. Coffee perks on a single burner Coleman 533 (not shown). Oven is up to temp by the time the coffee and meat are ready - biscuits/rolls go in and eggs on the griddle. Gotta make sure everything is level or you will have spill over.
