Gas Mileage

I have a 95 RRC LWB with a 3" RTE lift and 255/85/55 BF Mudd Terrains and I am getting 10mpg. I wasn't expecting too much better, but is this normal and what are somethings I can do increase it? As of right now the top is bare so no rack or anything.

Sounds about right I'd say. I get about 10 city and maybe 15-16 highway if I keep it around the speed limit. If your not already I'd suggest using 93 octane. From my experience, 93 has given me more mpg/$ than 87 and 89. As mentioned, a regear may help with city driving. Just bear in mind you'll likely lose some highway MPG if you regear

Re-gear, your 33's are killing your mileage, or replace gas with diesel motor, or by a beater to drive daily and use the RRC only when needed/fun.

11 MPG is the best i got before my rover became diesel.

6.2 diesel with 4 speed zf22 on the streets i get over 20 mpg. on the freeway 17 mpg.

with my new t56 + 6.2 diesel i should be getting over 27 mpg

Gearing is your friend in this case and regearing will not hurt your highway mileage as it will put the truck back to its happy place both highway and in town. I have run two sets of tires on my rigs 235s around town and larger for excursions and offroad trips, those BFGs are spendy to be burning up in town I just bought a new set a few weeks ago and they where 230.00 each 255/85/16 same as yours.

On my sons automatic disco with 34s he runs 3rd in town and can get 10-11 in town and pulls 14 on highway manualy shifting it down on hills and keeping it in its powerband.

Being a 4.2 maybe they just dont get as good of mileage theres a guy on here who goes by repete who has done a 45 mile commute one way for the last 10 plus years in a range rover lwb and a swb. He would have some insite on how to squeeze some more MPGs out of it.

Cheers Ed

I have been getting 12-14mpg with mixed hwy/city driving. I am running 32's with stock gears. My Audi only gets 22 mpg mixed driving. That the price we pay for driving the vehicles we love.
