I'm looking to do a decent bed for my van. I'm open to suggestions of manufacturers and or custom shops local to NYC area. trying to pull off this sort of set up

I found ours at Ikea! They had many to choose from, ours sleeps well and looks great in the upright as well as down, The top just folds back making the bed, wood slats make for a great nights rest,

I'm sorry all I have at this time is an older photo of the mock up, the new install is much better and complete if you'd like I can take a new photo in the next day or two as it is completed now.may 5 14 282.JPG

I like the VW Westfalia DIY bench/bed brackets sold by Bus Depot for $99

They work well, the back and bottom sits a bit reclined (not so upright like most) and the bed is flat. All you need is 3/4" plywood and get some foam upholstered. I have some measurements and pictures of my old one if that helps.

I have a set of those I bought for my project - decided to keep my craigslist conversion van bed seat instead. Drop me PM if you want a set NIB and slightly discounted.

Ikea Bed

We've now been on two trips with the Van/Bed from Ikea. the bed is very comfortable and is a great sleeper. We have 10 nights in the van, if I were to do it over which I'm going to I would never had purchased the frame (Metal with the wood slates) and just purchased the mattress with the cover which holds the two parts (Lower and Back) together and adds a lot of color to the van. I than would build a platform in the same area as I have it with a bottom slide out with pipe lets, this would give me 10" of open space that the frame takes up. I would have than made the under storage area accessibie from the front panel with out the need to lift the bed (Frame) this giving more movement in the van when closed up for the evening. This process would make space use better and cut cost of the bed by about 50%, as you may see with out the rasied roof, the bed height is fairly high and sitting is not the best, the building of the bed platform would allow for a lower sitting area. If you do chose the frame as in our van, I made a simple cut of one back leg that is over the wheel well and mounted the frame on my plywood box storage frame. It works but I now feel the platform would work much better.

The Model is the Karlaby at Ikea, the size of the Mattress is 471/4 X 783/4, don't see how you could use two in a van.
