Hello

i have a 240gd(td) from the danish army for offroading but im looking in to getting a non soft top one for every day running
and for road trips. And what i have avalible in sweden is old 300000km+ old (in need of love) machines or around
150000km+ machines from afte 00-01 that is avalible in sweden not that large amount of geländewagens are sold in sweden.
and the latest bling bling for way way to mutch $$$

so my question is, dose anyone have any experiens from the 400cdi v8 diesel car swb? the one i had a look at is realy nice in
the boddy and have had all its service but i have absolutly no experiens with modern comonrail diesels.
are ther a lot of problems with them ? should i stay away from them ? if there were more geländewagens avalible in sweden
then i whould prefere a professional 300 or 350 diesel SWB, but thers almost non sold here as the price is redicules.

i have had a look at a alot of diferent forums and from a lot of US posters thers usualy all the reflections about bad fule.
but almost nothing ells except thats "it´s rap, go for a amg55" or something similar, but thats even rarer in sweden.

I would look towards Germany if you want a realistic selection of G's. In both Sweden and Denmark there is a lot of dreamers with feverish fantasies of how great their G's are

The thing is that G400cdi has a very bad reputation from the first vehicles. That reputation rub off on all production years of the 400. That makes a G400 a very-hard-to-sell vehicle, so the prices are really low. If you go for the last production years, a lot of improvements had been implemented in the production. So they could offer a good balance in price and relaibility. Though you should still keep a healthy amount of money in your bank account to cover EGR replacement. Sorry to say, but that is just a service item in G400 terms. Remember it is by no way cheap to replace timing chain, two turbos, two EGR valves and 8 injectors... so keep eyes open.
Look out for rust, as the first ones had waterbased paintwork and underbody coating. Later on the enviromental friendley paintwork got better and stronger.

If G400 is what you desire, go for the later years and stay far away from the first ones.

Thx for the info
well 400 is only the only good one avalible on "blocket" that isnt overpriced like hell and looks ok in the body

what im looking at to get is a diesel after -00 with good body, i hate body repair. im geting to do that on my g240 and it sucks.
have no problem working with the mecanic parts i like the SWB and planing for a "offroad trailer" built to fit the hight and tent on top.
so it dont have to be a 400 but it should be a turbo diesel.
