Gen 1 distributor cap o ring

Hi I am in the process of the replacing the distributor cap and rotor as the car has been struggling to start in the rain. According to the manual, it has an o ring (part # MD611460) but I couldn't find it in reasonable price anywhere.
Is there other way to seal it like using an sealant?

Thanks

The seal has a block of rubber on it IIRC, i made mine using a quad ring and a glop of RTV where the block is.

The seal, if you can find it, makes it hard to clip the cap in place. I've only found them in gasket sets like a head gasket set from Fel Pro. You can use clear silicone along the bottom lip of the cap, let it dry overnight and then install it. Also not a bad idea to spray the inside of the cap with WD-40 instead of the sealant to keep moisture out in the first place.

Thanks for the suggestion. How often do I need to spray inside with WD40?

just once and just lightly, a fog more like. then seal it up and have done with her.
another solution is to set the cap, then run silicone tape around the outside. my rig has never had a seal, -wish it did. wish i had a fistful of dollars too but whatever.
