Preparing to have my parts car towed to the salvage yard. She's been a good beach ride, but it's time for her to go. She's a 98 gen 2.5 without a locker. Any parts I should pull for my daily 2000 2.5?
any parts from the 98 that are in better condition than the ones on your 2000. im thinking stuff like headlights, taillights, interior peices, ect. also if you work on cars save some vacuum and fuel lines from the old Montero, they fit basically every car ever and will come in handy someday. also save some fuses and lightbulbs from the old Montero if you're just sending it to the scrap yard
I don't need anything, but you should definately pull your exhaust manifolds if they aren't cracked. Those are hard to find, prone to fail, and will be valuable to someone. Also, the 4x4 shifter, if you have a white ball shifter, save that for sure!
I'd keep the non locking rear because that's the one that will be more serviceable in the future, parts are still available for the air locking axle but that will change like it did for the 92-96 Monteros. With the non locking axle you can run an aftermarket locker like ARB which has unbeatable serviceability. If you don't have room for the complete axle at least keep the short shaft in case you ever want to go ARB in your current rig. I'd keep the CV axles and steering gear as well.
