GMC rear seat question

Hey everyone,

I have a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT extended cab 4-door. I'm am wondering if anyone has ever taken the entire rear bench and replaced it with a single seat for the back seat? I have two dogs that I'd like to build a platform bed with storage underneath in the back seat but want to still have one seat in the back. Anyone have an suggestions?

Thanks!
Seth

Sure, it would be easy to fabricate. OR are you asking for some kind of bolt-in / no fabrication design? You could readily find a seat at any auto wrecking yard, might even find one that matches your front seats. You might first remove your rear bench and unbolt your front passenger and try it in back to see how well it fits the space available, you'll probably find out its too big. In which case you might want a bucket from a midsize car or truck.
As for fabrication, you could probably do it with a drill, jigsaw and vise at a minimum. Use angle iron or square tubing for your mounts / platform frame. All depends on your skills and budget. But there's nothing hard or expensive about it, if you can do it yourself.

The GMT900 extended cab benches are a 60/40 split. You could grab just one side of it and it would be sized most appropriately for your truck. You'd probably have to fab some brackets.

I was thinking this^^^^^ too. Might have to redo or add a floor mount and/or cut down a full width frame but should be pretty easy.
